Description

Do you hit the ski pistes in winter ? This route offers the chance to head back up the pistes by e-bike, towards the famous Cry d’Er restaurant. Leaving from the centre of Montana, you will quickly find yourself on forest paths which lead you towards the Hauts-de-Crans and Arnouva. Then it’s onto the prairies around the Corbyre alp, which will take you up to the Chetzeron hotel, proudly overlooking the Rhone Valley. The last section is a gentle slope that will take you back to the Cry d’Er restaurant. The descent is via the brand new blue downhill track, which is perfectly suited to downhill mountain biking.  

Turn-by-turn directions

From the centre of Montana, the route takes the direction of Crans, to go up on the right and reach the lake of Chermignon higher up. Follow the lake and take the forest road towards the Arnouva, whith its sunny terrace. The route continues along the Verdet trail by the mountain road that leads to the Alpage de Corbyre, then to the Cabane de Mattia. Continue straight ahead in the direction of the Ski World Cup piste, go up the "Bosse du Président" and then turn left towards the Amadeus 2006. From here, the trail continues towards the Chetzeron Hotel, followed by the gentle ascent to Cry d'Er.

Public transport

The resort of Crans-Montana is easily accessible from Sierre station with the SMC bus company and from Sion station with the bus company CarPostal.

The free shuttle buses of the SMC bus company serve the whole resort of Crans-Montana. The nearest stop to the start of this hike is: Ycoor

Approach

To reach Crans-Montana by car, take the exit of the A9 motorway (Rhône motorway) called "Sierre ouest". At the motorway exit, turn left and follow the signs for "Sierre". At the roundabout, turn right. Continue for 500 metres, then at the entrance to Sierre, turn left following the signs for "Crans-Montana". The journey takes about 20 minutes.
