Description

Valais Panorama Bike (VPB) - stage 4

The last day of the adventure begins at the stone arch bridge in the village of Binn. A gentle slope takes you as far as Heiligkreuz, where the almost 14-kilometre, 1,100-metre climb begins: first on an alpine track to Brunegge, then on a singletrack to Tanzbede. The final stretch to the pass will call on all your reserves. The sub-alpine landscape is arid and the colours change from pastel green to ochre as you climb. At the top, a magnificent view of the Simplon Pass and the highest peaks in Valais awaits you. After a well-earned rest, start the 12-kilometre, 1,900-metre descent, much of it on singletrails. Via Rosswald, the descent into the Ganter valley is exciting. Above Hobiel, cross a forest road to Schallberg and change at Riederwald onto a bisse trail. From the bottom station at Ried-Brig, you’ll head for your final destination, the town of Brig and its imposing Stockalper Castle.

Our favorites

Our favorite itineraries are part of a selection of the best routes in the region and are proposed by Valais/Wallis Promotion to best meet the expectations of our guests.

Turn-by-turn directions

From Binn, follow the main road down into the valley. At the reservoir, fork left and follow the Leng valley road to Heiligkreuz. Below the cable car, turn right to tackle a 14-kilometre climb with 1,100 metre ascent. Leave the alpine road at Brunegge and head up the valley on a singletrack to Tanzbede, where the final stretch to the pass is a little steeper. After the Saflisch Pass, the path winds up to the Fleschbode reservoir. A narrow road then leads to Rosswald, before turning onto a forest road towards Schmidmatte. A single track leads you to point 1483 near Undri Eisten, before reaching Schallberg via a forest road. A further winding single track branches off to the right, followed by a side road leading to the start of the last section of single track. At the entrance to Riederwald, take a bisse path to the Rosswald bottom station. Finally, at junction 1067, take the side road via Bleike, Brei and Lingwurm to the town of Brig.
